Frequently Asked Questions
What is Pediatric Behaviour Analysis?

How are goals created for my child?
Goals are developed after initial assessment and observation, and are based on:
- Your child’s strengths and needs

We collaborate closely with families and other professionals to ensure goals are meaningful and functional.
What does ABA look like at Little Steps?
Little Steps focuses on individual needs and uses play-based neurodiversity affirming approaches during sessions. Our Behaviour Analysts develop programs and strategies based on each child’s strengths and interests. We approach challenging situations in a positive manner, and work on preventative strategies rather than reactive strategies.
Is Behaviour Analysis evidence-based?
Yes. ABA is one of the most widely researched and evidence-based approaches for supporting children with developmental and behavioural needs.
What qualifications do Behaviour Analysts have?
Services are overseen by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) and/or a Board Certified Assistant Behaviour Analyst (BCaBA). Therapy is sometimes delivered directly with a BCBA, BCaBA (requires supervision), or a Behavior Interventionist under the supervision of a BCaBA or BCBA.
How do you address challenging behaviours?
We focus on understanding the reason behind the behaviour and teaching safer, more effective alternatives. Strategies are positive, supportive, and tailored to each child.
