What BC Families Need to Know About the Upcoming Autism Funding Changes
Families across British Columbia are hearing more and more about upcoming changes to autism funding — and for many parents, it can feel overwhelming and uncertain. At Little Steps Therapy Services, we understand how important stability and support are for children and caregivers, and we want families to know they are not navigating these changes alone.
The Province of BC is transitioning from the current diagnosis-based autism funding model toward a broader needs-based support system for children and youth with disabilities. While changes are expected over the next several years, current autism funding programs are continuing during the transition period until March 2027.
For families in Victoria and across BC, this means it is important to stay informed, keep documentation and assessments organized, and continue accessing services that support your child’s growth and development. Early intervention and ongoing therapeutic support remain incredibly valuable for helping children build communication, emotional regulation, social, and daily living skills.
We know that every child’s needs are unique. Whether your family is currently receiving funding, preparing for an assessment, or simply looking for guidance, having a trusted team beside you can make a meaningful difference.
At Little Steps Therapy Services, we are committed to supporting children and families with compassionate, individualized care. As funding updates continue to unfold, we will keep sharing helpful information and resources to support our local community here in Greater Victoria and the Gulf Islands.
If you have questions about therapy services or navigating support options, we are always here to help.
